Conveyancing Attorneys in Port Elizabeth & Jeffreys Bay

About 95% of our work is conveyancing. The rest supports it: the notarial, estate and advisory work our property clients need. We register property transfers, mortgage bonds and bond cancellations, register antenuptial contracts, draft sale agreements, attend to estate late transfers and provide notarial services, including consolidations, subdivisions and the registration of servitudes.

From our offices in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha), Jeffreys Bay and East London we serve buyers, sellers, developers and banks throughout the Eastern Cape, including Humansdorp, St Francis Bay, Cape St Francis, Kariega (Uitenhage), Despatch and the Kouga region.

Under South African law, only a qualified conveyancer may attend to the transfer of immovable property and related transactions, and only an admitted attorney may qualify as a conveyancer. This safeguard protects the public and upholds the integrity of the South African land registration system, widely recognised as one of the most reliable in the world.

We are authorised to administer oaths and to authenticate legal documents.

Our conveyancing services include:
  • Drafting of deeds of sale and offers to purchase
  • Registration of conventional and sectional title transfers
  • Registration of mortgage bonds, further bonds and bond switches
  • Bond cancellations
  • Estate late transfers
  • Partition transfers
  • Donation transfers
  • Registration of servitudes (praedial and personal)
  • Subdivisions and consolidations of properties
  • Drafting of commercial and residential lease agreements

Property Development

Our exclusive mandates with developers and investors take our conveyancing service to the next level. Our attorneys are hands-on throughout the registration of every transfer and bond, and meet regularly with clients face to face or online.

Our service is ideal for high-value or complex property transactions, or whenever you value having a senior conveyancer oversee every key step.

We are the preferred conveyancers for many property developments and have registered thousands of developed units. Our development work covers sectional title schemes, plot-and-plan developments, township establishment, homeowners’ associations, exclusive use areas, servitudes and full transfer programmes. We also register mortgage bonds for all the major banks and attend to the sale and transfer of commercial buildings.

As property developers themselves, through the Schaëfer Development Trust, our founding directors understand the challenges, timelines and commercial realities developers face, and identify legal problems before they become obstacles.
